What is this EU-subsidy?

From January 2022 we can submit applications for an EU contribution for solar energy installations. There is an amount of 60 million (more or less) to be distributed and this applies to both residents and non-residents.

The help is:
The system: € 600.00 per kWh installed power for installations up to 10 kW | instalations bigger than 10 KW: €450.00 per kWh
Batteries: €490.00 per kWh installed battery capacisty up to 10kW | instalations bigger than 10 KW: €350.00 per kWh

The subsidy amount is generally around 50% of the investment. The first applications are processed first, so the sooner they are submitted, the greater the chance that the subsidy will be paid out. We cannot give any guarantees as to whether the subsidy will actually be paid out. Please note that the payout can take up to 2.5-3 years from the date of presentation.

How can I apply for this EU-subsidy?

We can apply for the EU subsidy for you. We will then need the following:

  • NIE-number/residence certificate (TIE)
  • Passport/ID
  • Bank certificate (spanish bank)
  • ACCV code (digital certificate)
  • Tax domicile certificate (if you are a non-resident)

Our employees, Claudia and Martine, will inform you about this as well as support you in requesting these documents. They will also take care of the other technical documents

Claudia Oudenaar

Martine Seurynck

What does this application cost?

The cost of the EU subsidy application is €300 + VAT. This is purely for the work of our employees and engineers; assisting, completing and processing the forms and organizing the (technical) certificates.

Any costs for the translation of the tax domicile certificate are not included.

You have already applied for the EU subsidy for me.
What is the status of my application?

The Generalitat indicated that it had a response time of 6 months. In practice, however, it has been shown that this has increased to 9-10 months. At the moment we have only received questions regarding files that we have submitted up to and including the end of January.

The responses we received only contain the question whether we could clarify things (these applications were submitted before they changed some requirements).

Not a single EU grant application has yet been rejected, nor has it been approved. If an EU grant application is approved, it can even take up to 18 months before the actual payment is made.

Unfortunately, it is a long process where our patience is clearly tested.

We will inform you about your case as soon as we receive a response.

Your electricity bill

España

We always ask for an electricity bill to make a tailor-made quotation for a solar energy system. An invoice provides more insight into your use, the price you pay per kWh and what phase connection you have (mono or 3 phase).

In this blog you can read more about the components that have to do with solar energy installations, especially after the installation of solar panels such as the compensation for “autoconsumo” (sur plus).

We also inform you about the latest change with regard to the gas price, which also affects your electricity bill.

What is “Tope del Gas”?

“Tope del Gas” is a temporary measure enacted by the government. The aim of this measure is to regulate the price of electricity by setting a maximum price for gas. It concerns the gas that is used for the production of electricity.

This measure currently runs from June 15, 2022 to May 31, 2023.

What effect does this have on my energy bill?

On one side, electricity prices are currently lower than in the months before the adoption of the “Tope del Gas” measure.

On the other hand: Power stations buy gas on international markets, where there is no limit and therefore the market price is used. They must be financially compensated for the difference between the actual price and the “capped” price applicable in Spain.

The difference between the market price and the capped price is charged to the users. This is stated as a separate cost item on the invoices “Tope del Gas” or “Coste Intervención gas RDL 10/2022”

What is the compensation for “excedentes de autoconsumo”?

The energy that you produce through your solar energy installation and that you are not using at that time is sent to the electricity grid. You will receive compensation for this energy.

The minimum compensation per kWh is set in the Code (BOE) but can vary as each company can propose its own compensation. There are companies that, for example, keep 0.05 € per kWh, but variable prices are also a possibility.

The compensation is settled with the energy consumed. There is no netting in Spain, which means that you will never be paid but you could bring the cost of energy consumed to 0 €. You only pay the fixed costs of your connection.

Where can I see the compensation for what I feed back to the grid?

As soon as your system has been legalized and the network administrator has contacted your energy supplier, the supplier will offer you a contract change with regard to the feed-in.

The compensation will then be visible on the next invoice as “Compensacion Excedentes” or, for example, “Compensacion Autoconsumo”.

View an example of an invoice below.

The benefits for our customers

The benefits for our customers can be divided into several categories:

  • Generating from the solar panels
During the day you generate electricity through the solar panels which you can use immediately. How much you generate is not reflected on the bill from your energy company. You can see this in the app of your solar energy system.
  • System with batteries
If you generate more than you use during the day, this excess energy is stored in the batteries. You can then use this energy at night, when the solar panels are not generating anything – all this is automatic.
This data can also be read back in the app of your solar energy system.
Deze gegevens zijn ook terug te lezen in de app van uw zonne-energiesysteem.
  • Feed back to the grid
You can see the return on the invoice. That is what is called under “con excedentes” or “autoconsumo”.

Below you can see an example of an invoice from one of our customers before the purchase of a solar energy system and an invoice after the installation and the feed-in activated.

An advantage of no less than € 450,00!

Do you not have a solar energy system yet and would you also like a greatly reduced bill like our customers?
Fill in the contact form on our contact page (click here).

We will then send you a tailor-made offer as soon as possible.

What a benefits for our customers!

España

In the first half of 2022, we kept track of the figures of all solar energy systems that we installed, including the results.

“How many systems have we installed?”

“What have the systems generated?”

But the most important question – especially in this time when energy rates have risen:

“How much have our customers actually saved
by investing in solar panels?”

See here the summary of our installed systems and what a solar energy system can do for you.

In the first 6 months of 2022, we have installed more then 200+ solar energy systems in the regions of Valencia and Alicante.

That is a total of +/- 2350 solar panels for residential use. The average installation has 10 panels

Which means we have installed a total of 1,000,000 Wp. Together, these installations generate 4000 kWh per day.

We have also already installed 600 batteries, which means +/- 3 batteries (7,68 kWh) per installation. This means that 1500 kW of battery capacity is stored per night, resulting in 547,500 kW per year

NEW
We also recently started offering car chargers! Easy and economical to charge your car at home.

Together, our customers have saved €1.200* per day, which has greatly reduced their energy bills.
*at 0.30€ kW price (average rate of our customers)

We are very pleased with these figures for the first half of the year, as we also contribute to a sustainable life.

These figures indicate that our customers have made the right choice by investing in a solar energy system.

  1. As they contribute to a sustainable Spain
  2. They receive a significant reduced energy bill

We expect that energy prices will continue to rise for the time being, making an investment in a solar energy system more and more interesting.
